What is the proper forms that need to be filed during a company acquisition to transfer the DOT # to the new owner?

    In my experience 2 documents are necessary. MCS-150(B) updated with the sold company fleet info under the name/US DOT number of the acquiring company. The second document is an "Out-of-Business" MCS-150(B) which is signed by the sold company management/leadership. we have been having a challenge with the "out-of-business" document being accepted by FMCSA. They seem to change who they consider an appropriate signer. Also, have your "business sale, or acquisition" documentation ready for submission. Sometimes FMCSA will ask for that proof in an email. good luck
